Blogging: F = Followers

We all want people to follow our blogs.
Followers means readers, which in turn means that these individuals enjoy what you are writing.

But, some individuals want to gain followers just for sheer numbers. {Ever saw the below:}

Don't want to offend anyone, but I really do hate seeing these comments!
 Why would anyone want followers that possibly do not even read their blog or enjoy it?

I would like more followers,
{like this:}

 but, I want followers who enjoy reading what I write.

Do you care why your followers "follow" you?

I don't particularly get annoyed but I do appreciate followers that are actually interested in what I have to say.

I think that people follow for a number of reasons . People that I know of have ou followed other writers to inspire you or to keep up with the latest styles and topics. Some follow haut because they like something nice to read in the morning on the way to work without he hassle of having to go and search for it. I'd live hundreds of followers , who wouldn't , but I'd prefer a smaller number who interacted with me regularly . People who shre their stories and want to know yours are priceless!

I like to have followers who enjoy what I write & who want to read more of my writing day by day. Great post for the challenge :o)

Good posts for the challenge. I especially like all of the graphics you use. Oh, and I read The Help and enjoyed it as well!

When I was a brand new blogger, I think I attracted "sympathy" followers who didn't particularly plan to come back; they just wanted to be sure I had followers so my blog wouldn't look so sad. Since I do family history, I'd really like to find people searching the same people I am, but so far that's not happening. So I'm happy for whoever appreciates what I have to say.

I just want my followers to actually read what I write. Obviously the more the better, but I want them to be active followers.

I follow like I bookmark things, because I found something cool and want to remember it. There are so many great blogs out there that I'm glad the ones I follow will come to me. I've also followed friends' blogs to hear what they're up to.

I want followers who are interested in what I have to offer/share...otherwise why blog..but I have to admit sometimes I just want to see followers so that I will feel better...lol! After all I am human and want others to like me but really I'd rather they were interested in my story.

I would hope that readers follow my blog because they enjoy my writing...that's the reason I write! ;-) [LOVING this A to Z challenge]

I hope people who follow my blog do so because they enjoy it. Either the blog itself or my writing (though preferably both).

I admit to reading more blogs than I comment on. I find even if I like a post if they have had 57 comments I don't usually comment. I feel like it has all been said. I don't like people to follow me just to get me to follow them. What is the point? Numbers? Biggest pet peeve is people who follow me on Twitter and then unfollow me after I follow them back. Grrr. I quickly unfollow them right back. I like having a dialogue with my followers when possible. It is hard to do and I'm nowhere as good at it as some.

Love love the Dos Equis dude! HOw funny you used him...yes those dang followers! How to get them? I only follow blogs that peak my interest, yes.

I completely agree! I just re-launched my blog onto a wordpress site and no longer can use google friend connect. I am looking into other widgets, but have been having some technical difficulties. So I have no idea how many people are actually following me. I have the stats, and the email follow thingy, but it is maddening to not have the friend connect. Sorry for the rant :) But yes, I want people to follow me because they are genuinely interested...

I've wondered about the following thing too. Every blogger hopes people are linking up b/c readers really like their writing. But, none of us, even w/ the best of intentions, can follow 100+ blogs with serious attention. I'm "following" people b/c I want to save the link, and have every intention of checking back, though probably not daily. I want quick access to their blog b/c I do like the writing and will be a regular visitor. During this A-Z challenge, though, I've noticed a few bloggers following EVERY blog I'm looking at. Their little square heads are on just about every blog. The blogs are so different, one has to assume they just want higher numbers. There's nothing wrong w/ that, we'd all like to be appreciated by EVERY one, and considered brilliant writers...but I wonder if they will ever really return. I'm sure some people signing up to follow me will drop off at some point. With blogging, the only way to market yourself is through the follower system, so we all use it. I admire the confident bloggers who don't have a "follow me" widget on their site. They don't care who's reading. This is probably maturity in some form. :-) Having said all that, I'm going to follow you, kayla, b/c you've sparked this great dialogue and I want to see what else you do! You can visit me at Adventures in the Ballpark...or NOT. :-)
