#57 of My 101 in 1001

#57 - Try a new restaurant

While on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC, my mom, Nancy, and I went to eat breakfast at the Pier House Restaurant on the 2nd Avenue Pier, which happened to be right next to our hotel!

I didn't get a picture of the restaurant sign or anything, but I did happen to snap some pics of the view from our table.

Looking straight out onto the beach and pier.

Same pic as above, but zoomed in.

View to the right of the table.
I wish I could eat breakfast everyday looking at these views.  I would be more willing to get up in the morning!

#40 & #51 of My 101 in 1001

#40 - Visit another state

I went to South Carolina on vacation.

#51 - Go to the beach

I spent 5 days in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with some of my wonderful family members.
Sarah, Kay, Nancy, Momma, & Me

TK & Mel

And, it was fabulous.

I went swimming in the hotel pool and the ocean (the pool was warmer, but the ocean was great as well).  I went shopping, and I played mini-golf.  I got a sunburn.

I also ended up with three huge bruises, a pair of broke sunglasses, and a broke camera, which led to me getting some ibuprofen, a bottle of wine, two {2} new pair of sunglasses and a new camera.

With the sunburn and the three bruises {one on each elbow & one on my right knee}, I had to have some ibuprofen & a bottle of wine is always good.  Take ibuprofen during the day, and drink wine at night - sounded like a good prescription for pain relief!

As I am in Wal-Mart, my sunglasses fell off of my head, and at first, I thought that the lenses had just popped out, but after picking them up, I figured out they were no good anymore!  The frames had cracked, so when we went to Tanger Outlets, I found two cute & inexpensive pairs {one black & one brown - only $3.80 each} at Forever 21.

Now to the broken camera.  My camera was already broke {I had to tape the little door shut that hold the batteries and memory card in place}!  But, this time it was not fixable, no matter how much tape I had.

My old camera had a timer on it {as most cameras do}, so that I could set the timer, and it would take the picture in 10 seconds {giving me just enough time to run back and get in the picture}!  I set the timer, placed the camera on a railing {first idiot mistake}, the pressed the shutter button so it would begin the 10 second countdown to when the picture would be taken {second idiot mistake}!  The railing was curved, so the camera was not very stable to begin with, and when I pressed the shutter button, the camera tipped and fell down to the concrete sidewalk.

Now the came lens won't even go in all the way!

Also, when I turn the camera on, all it will say is "System Error!"

My new camera!  Awesome!  It is just as good as my old camera, and I don't need tape! :)
So, my time at the beach was great.  Although there were some times that I just wanted to scream, I had a blast.  And, I ended up with a nice base tan, two new pair of sunglasses, a new camera, some new shirts and tanks, and a new pair of flip-flops!

And best of all, I got to spend some great quality time with my family!

Confessions of a Book Lover: The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Absolutely fell in love with this story from the very beginning!
It was a heartfelt story that made me laugh, cry, smile, and gasp in shock as I followed the lives of several women.

I read this book in about a day and a half to two days.
As long as you can get past the language and vocabulary, this is a terrific book full of hope and inspiration.
{I actually enjoyed that the author wrote how the women would have spoken during that time period.}

#29 of My 101 in 1001

#29.  Pay for the person behind me at the drive-thru

So, I completed this a while back and posted it on my Twitter & Facebook accounts, but did not have the time to write a post about it.  Here is my post from Facebook:

Kayla Ann Yow
Just paid for the person's food behind me in the drive-thru! Kindness-Pass It On!

I did not get the receipt for this.  I actually did not think about it until after I drove away because I paid in cash.

Another item marked off My 101 in 1001 list!  I have several more posts I need to write for items I have completed, and I am actively working on my list! :)

Until next time....

Making Progress on my 101 in 1001 list

I'm so ecstatic!

I have been making progress on my 101 in 1001 list for the Day Zero project.  I have completed quite a few items that I haven't had time to create posts about yet, but I am working on it.

But, today's post is about two items that are on my list.

The first is my Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith.  I could not be happier to have this book in my possession.  As a matter of fact, I did not just get the one {1} book, but I got a total of five {5} books like this, and they are all by her.

{Walmart.com *where I ordered my box set from*}

The photo above shows the box set of three {3} of the books that I bought.

In addition to the books, I also bought a piggy bank a couple of days ago.  I took the time tonight to get all of the tape and paper off of it so that I could start putting some change in it.  I hope that I will be able to fill my piggy bank up several times during the course of my 1001 days I am on this journey.

Well, that is all for now my lovelies!

Thank you all for following and/or reading my blog!

Confessions of a Book Lover: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

Overall, this was a good read.

At first, I really could not get into this book, but I promised myself I was going to read it all the way through, no matter what.

I am sure glad I did.  It turned out to be a good book, with a very interesting story line about books, reading, and a book society or club.  If you do decide to read it, just don't give up on it.  Keep reading it until the end - it will be worth it!

It sparked my interest, mainly because I am a book lover and always have been!

And, as stated in my blog about inspirational notes, I am leaving notes in all the books I read now.  So, here is the note that I left in this one!

I've been so bad....

Sorry I haven't posted in a while - I have been enjoying time with my niece :)

She took her first real steps by herself the other night - yay! - and we have been trying to get her to walk by herself since then
But, she is too smart for that, so she just plops down on her butt & laughs :)

Over the past couple of days, I have lost 3.8 lbs b/c of her (you know - playing, running around, nerves)

In addition, I have failed to complete any kind of homework assignment or anything else b/c everytime I get on my computer she wants to jump in my lap to play on it with me!

So, now you know where I have been, but I promise I will be back, soon!

*I am still completing items from my "101 in 1001" list.  I am having so much fun doing this list.  I am really excited about all of it, and I am reading one of the books on my list. So, I will have some detailed posts coming up, including a book review or two!*

My 101 in 1001 (#20)

#20
{Leave an inspirational note inside a book for someone to find}

I have the note in the book, now I need to get the book back to the library.  I plan on doing this on Monday so that I can pick up more books to read!

I believe I am going to do this for every one of the 20 books that I read on my "101 in 1001" list.

Confessions of a Book Lover: Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo

This book is one of my faves so far.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I read it within a day (about 8 hours, with breaks)!
It is an amazing story for believers and non-believers of Christ.

I took extra pics of the back cover (enlarged), so that you can possibly read the details about the book.
If you read it, let me know what you think.

*This is my 1st book of 20 as suggested by friends.  It is part of my "101 in 1001" list!*

Ok my lovelies - since I consider any of my followers/readers my friends, I am trusting you to help me out here.

One of my goals for my "101 in 1001" is to ask 20 friends to suggest one book each for me to read.

So, can some of you please suggest some interesting reads for me?  I enjoy plenty of books, and I love to read.  I am actually interested in a couple of books already, but since this is up to my friends, you have free reign, and I will read what you suggest.

My 101 in 1001 (#98)

So, I have completed another task (#98) on My 101 in 1001 list.

I just sent myself an e-mail to be delivered on October 6, 2011, which is my 25th birthday.  It was nothing spectacular, but it will be special to me when I open it on my bday!  I forgot to copy the e-mail so I could post it on here, but I will do that when I receive it in just a few short weeks!

Is anyone else doing the 101 in 1001 Day Zero Project?

Day Zero

Check out my Day Zero tab at the top of the page.  I have created my list of 101 things I want to complete in 1001 days.

And, I have completed one of my goals (#16) already, which is to post about the Day Zero Project.

Day Zero is an awesome website that allows you to create a list of what you want to do.  It is almost like creating a bucket list or a New Year's resolution.  Anywho, the website will give you ideas and the Top 101, and you can search through tags for tasks you want to complete.

Please check it out, and go create your own list.
